Gym

Went to the gym. I was harder without my gym buddy, but I made myself excited by having a super awesome playlist.

It was really dead on a Sunday afternoon, so I did 30 on the treadmill and then rewarded myself with a stint in the hottub. I am TIRED, but a good tired.

Did a teeny bit of jogging. My feet didn’t hurt much, which was a good sign.

Back on track, even though my trip is only in a week. lol.

I have to start making excuse to EAT GOOD, not to justify eating bad.  lol

I’m cycling from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland when I get back to the UK in the summer. This is one of the most famous cycling challenges in the UK as it stretches the entire mainland of the British Isles. Late last year I did London-Glasgow which was about 400 miles - this will be almost 1000 miles. I’m going to do it on my own over the span of two weeks and will be sleeping out in the wild or at friends’ places. I’m hoping for a lack of rain and head winds so well-wishes are appreciated.

I’ve chosen to raise some money for Rape Crisis which is a UK-based charity supporting survivors and raising awareness. I felt it was important to use the trip to do something positive for those who need support in our community. I’ve set a target of £1000 which equates to roughly £1 per mile - so if you want do donate then think of it as how many miles you want do sponsor me for. The response has been awesome as there has been just over £100 raised so far. Don’t worry if you can’t give much (even just £1 is fab) - supportive words are pretty good too!

If you could share this to help me spread the message of my fund-raising that would be awesome.

Thank you for reading! :+)

I wonder if people notice that I wear the same pair of jeans literally all the time.

My second entry for Month of Love!  This week’s theme was favorite love story and I gotta say, it was too hard to pick just one out of the twenty some-odd that I came up with.
I always come back to the knight/noble lady trope because I’m cheesy and it’s the best.  It’s also a Valentine’s Day image for m’lady (hah) and I because I call her that so often.

Now “tribal trends” are totally “in.” You can walk into any store in the mall and see “Native” imagery everywhere. As a Native person, when I look at them, I can’t help but remember the not-so-distant past when my people weren’t allowed, by law, to wear these things. It’s such a constant reminder of the colonial power structures still in place. Back in the day, white people had the power to take away our culture, and now they have the power to wear it however they see fit. These are our images, our cultural symbols, yet we are completely powerless to have control over them.
